INTRA-ALBERTA
Fixed price and Index gas traded on Intra-Alberta is nominated three times daily. Physical basis gas is nominated once a day to TransCanada Pipelines (TCPL).

  • YD (Yesterday) Nominations
An NGX market operator generates the first nomination of the day, after the YD Instrument closes (10:00am MT). This deadline is subject to change during Daylight Saving Time. The trading positions of each counterparty are transferred to TCPL via their secure Internet nomination input system, NrG Highway. The pipeline processes these nominations and a NIT (Nova Inventory Transfer) will be entered into TCPL’s gas management system.

  • SD (Same Day) Nominations
The second nomination is generated by an NGX market operator, after the day’s trading has ended (3:00pm MT). A file that will show intra-day transactions only, is created, uploaded to TCPL and processed identically to the first nomination.

  • Ongoing Baseload Nominations
After the intra-day nomination has been processed, an NGX market operator then generates a third nomination. This nomination includes details of all transactions for delivery that have been traded on Intra-Alberta and Basis Alberta for the start of the next gas day. This file is created, uploaded to TCPL and processed identically to the first nomination.

  • ATCO - NORTH & ATCO - SOUTH
Gas transacted at the ATCO-North or ATCO-South trading hubs is nominated in Gigajoules twice per day at both locations. The nominations include previous day balancing (yesterday gas) and same-day gas and are submitted as net positions for each counterparty. YD Nominations are sent at 11:00 AM Mountain Time and Same Day Nominations are sent at 2:30 PM. They are manually uploaded using ATCO's TIS Online nomination system. ATCO Pipelines will then verify the volumes and debit the accounts accordingly. Only NGX uploads daily nominations; clients are responsible for verifying volumes using reporting but are not required to upload any nominations.

    EASTERN CANADA - TCPL
Gas traded on the Empress, Emerson Great Lakes, Niagara, Iroquois, St. Clair or Chippawa pipeline hubs is nominated once a day to TCPL. The nominations for all of these hubs are processed after the TCPL spot day market closes at 10:30am MT. The NGX market operator then manually inputs the account mnemonics and volumes into the NrG Highway. A next day start date for transactions on these hubs is entered, as there are no intra-day contracts available. Each counterparty that transacts on these hubs also uses the NrG Highway to confirm nominations to the pipeline, which crosschecks NGX's nominations to ensure accuracy and account balancing.

SPECTRA ENERGY GAS TRANSMISSION- STATION #2 and HUNTINGDON
Gas traded on the Station #2 or Huntingdon hubs on NGX is nominated to Duke Energy Gas Transmission on the Timely (10:00am MT) and Evening (2:00pm MT) GISB Cycles for each Gas Day. After submitting the gross positions of all trading counterparties each day at both locations, the Duke gas scheduling group matches nominations on their system with the files sent by NGX. If all counterparties entries match, Duke provides an online report showing balances for each GISB Cycle, including Timely, Evening, Intra-Day 1 and Intra-Day 2. Duke also contacts NGX and counterparties in the event of nomination imbalances.

SPECTRA ENERGY GAS TRANSMISSION- T-North Balancing
Gas traded on the T-North Balancinghub's YD instrument on NGX is nominated to Spectra Energy Gas Transmission at 8:30 AM MT weekdays (10:30 AM weekends) each day for the previous Gas Day. After submitting the gross positions of all trading counterparties each day, the Spectra gas scheduling group will match nominations on their system with the files sent by NGX. If all counterparties entries match, Spectra will provide an online report showing balances for this location. Spectra will also contact NGX and counterparties in the event of nomination imbalances.

    UNION PIPELINE (DAWN AND PARKWAY)
Gas traded on the Union Dawn and Union Parkway hubs on NGX is nominated to the Union pipeline using ENOMS, an Internet nomination tool, which is managed by Union Gas. The nominations for these hubs are processed after the UNION spot day market closes at 10:15am MT. The NGX market operator then uses ENOMS to manually enter the respective volumes for each company. Each counterparty that trades on these hubs is also required to upload their nomination values and counterparties. Union Gas then cross checks the nominations received from both parties, which ensures accuracy and account balancing.

    TEP (Transgas Energy Pool)
Gas traded on the Transgas Energy Pool (TEP) pipeline is nominated once a day at 2:00pm MT after the market has closed. The NGX market operator manually inputs the account mnemonic and volumes to the TEP website. Each counterparty that transacts on TEP, also uses the TEP website to confirm nominations, which will cross check NGX's nominations to ensure accuracy and account balancing. Once confirmed the nominations are submitted to the pipeline.

    NICOR-NGPL (CHICAGO)
Gas traded on the Nicor-NGPL hub on NGX is nominated to the NICOR pipeline using Nicor’s proprietary Gas Exchange software. The deadline for submission of these nominations is 11:30am Central Time (10:30am MT) with the spot instruments closing for trading each day at 10:45 AM Central Time (9:45am local MT). All transactions are traded and nominated in Bbtus. Each nomination is verbally confirmed with the counterparty and manually entered into the Gas Exchange software by an NGX market operator. The nominations are then uploaded to NICOR where they are matched to the nominations uploaded by each counter party to ensure accuracy and account balancing.

NORTHERN BORDER PIPELINE (VENTURA TRANSFER POINT)
Gas traded on NGX Ventura Transfer Point is nominated to Northern Border pipeline using the online Hottap nomination system. The deadline for submission of these nominations is 11:30am Central Time (10:30am local MT) with the spot instruments closing for trading each day at 11:00am Central Time (10:00am local MT). All transactions are traded in Bbtus and nominated in Dekatherms (1 Dekatherm = 1 MMBtu). Each nomination will be manually entered in the Hottap software by a NGX Market Operator and submitted electronically to Northern Border, where the deals are matched with the counterparties’ nominations automatically to ensure accuracy and account balancing.

    Gas Transmission Northwest Pipeline (Malin)
Gas traded at GTN-Malin hub on NGX is nominated manually to Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN) on the Timely (10:00am MT) and Evening (2:00pm MT) gas Cycles for each Gas Day. After submitting the gross positions of all trading counterparties each day, the GTN-Malin gas scheduling group matches nominations on their system received from NGX's counterparties with the files sent by NGX. If all counterparties' entries match, GTN-Malin schedulers confirm with NGX and each counterparty. Gas Transmission Northwest contacts NGX and counterparties in the event of nomination imbalances.

    California Gas Transmission (PG&E Citygate)
Gas traded at California Gas Transmission’s(CGT) PG&E Citygate hub on NGX is nominated manually to CGT on the Timely (10:00am PT) gas cycle for each Gas Day. After submitting the net positions of all trading counterparties each day, the PG&E gas scheduling group matches nominations on their system received from NGX's counterparties with the files sent by NGX. If all counterparties' entries match, PG&E Citygate schedulers confirm with NGX and each counterparty. PG&E Citygate contacts NGX and counterparties in the event of nomination imbalances.
